19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for 882 days with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a challenging period, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a setback at the New York tournament.

His inconsistency on the tennis tour - and difficulties with his serving in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and eventually separating with long-term coach Gilles Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the last few weeks - peaking in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over challenger Moutet.

This represents the player's maiden championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard court since that period of 2023.

Victory also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 different tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his past six finals, featuring in that event previously this season.

Medvedev's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the playing surface had led observers to question if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

However the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an better serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the initial set against the tricky Moutet, securing four of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

The pair traded break points in the second set before Moutet, bidding for his first professional title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued four early chances in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to close out the victory.

Fittingly, the winner secured the win with a point at the net, with his opponent incapable to manage a volley after over two and a half hours.
